Folks, there's a lot of outfits out there scrambling to build expensive, proprietary set-top boxes to connect the Internet to your television. But wait, you already have an expensive box - your computer. Why buy another box? And being that these set-top-boxes are proprietary means that they only work with one or a few, select services. For example, if you buy a box from Netflix to rent movies over the Internet, your can only rent movies from Netflix! That's a raw deal because we know what happens when a company creates a monopoly - you end up paying more.
We believe that the Internet should be an open marketplace where businesses compete with one another to offer products and services. That's why we promote many different web-based online movie services such as Amazon Video On Demand, CinemaNow and Blockbuster. Competition is good.
By connecting the Internet to your television via your PC, you are not limited to where you can go and what you can do. Watch movies, Internet television, video-on-demand, listen to music, play games - who knows what tomorrow will bring. The Internet is in your living room and it's on your TV.
In the next few years new PCs and TVs will have a built-in ability to communicate wirelessly. So although you need an inexpensive cable today, technology will someday allow you to "cut the cord."
